Mighty Doodle is designed for children in 1st – 4th grades.

 

Take this quick quiz to discover if your child is ready.  Note all that apply to your child:

 

 

Developing early reading skills

  • Can your child recognize letters and their sounds?
  • Does your child understand letters have names and are different from each other and specific sounds go with specific letters?
  • Does your child play with sounds in words (e.g., rhyming)?
  • Does your child understand that text is read from left to right and top to bottom? (Print Awareness)

Shows interest in books and storytelling

  • Does your child enjoy being read to and looking at books?
  • Can your child listen to and engage with simple stories?
  • Does your child show curiosity about writing and attempt to write or draw letters?

Has a basic vocabulary and is eager to learn new words

  • Does your child know the names of many things? (typically 3,000-5,000 words for school beginners)
  • Does your child show curiosity about the meanings of new words they encounter?

Can focus on activities for short periods without constant supervision

  • Is your child able to engage with books or literacy activities independently for up to 20-30 minutes?
  • Does your child show interest in writing or drawing activities without constant direction?

Enjoys interactive and engaging learning experiences

  • Does your child participate actively during shared reading or storytelling?
  • Does your child show interest in educational games or activities related to letters and words?

May benefit from additional support or have specific learning needs

  • Has your child been identified as a child needing extra help with reading or writing?
  • Has your child been flagged and/or diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ASD or other learning differences?
